Rain turned date into a good test of HVAC compatibility

I’m definitely not the kind of person who goes on a lot of first dates.

In fact, I really don’t put myself out there to date anybody at all.

I’m pretty happy being alone and worrying about my own life before I try to consider anybody else’s health or happiness. That being said, I went out on a limb and had a first date the other week that went surprisingly well. Don’t get me wrong, it started with everything going completely to hell. We were supposed to go out for a day of hiking , but the weather did not cooperate with our plans whatsoever. It was ice cold, rainy, and blustery outside the entire day. We decided to have our first date inside in the comfort of a central heating, cooling, and air quality control system anyways. With my thermostat and central HVAC system running the show I thought that we would still be able to have a fairly nice day… Although I expected it to be very awkward. Honestly, I was concerned that my central air conditioning unit and furnace would not be up to snuff for this interesting human that I wanted to impress. Wouldn’t you know, about an hour into the date my air conditioning unit stopped working. At that point I had to run outside to investigate the AC system. I was shocked when she asked if she could come look at the air conditioner with me. After we were thoroughly soaked by the rain and the air conditioning unit was back up and running again the date got a lot more interesting. Being all wet in ice cold AC, it quickly progressed from one thing to another. Next time I have a first date, I might break my AC unit on purpose.
