Running at night, enjoying the neighborhood AC

A lot of folks have taken this pandemic to be a really terrible thing.

If you’re a front line worker, I completely understand how you would feel that way.

However, if you’re one of the privileged people who’s just been sitting at home, I fail to see the problem. Personally, I’ve really enjoyed my time locked indoors away from work. I’ve even taken up new fitness habits, such as jogging at night. Originally, I was jogging in the morning, until people started turning on their air conditioning systems a few weeks ago. I realized very quickly, the central cooling systems that effectively manage our indoor air temperature and humidity throughout the summer provide amazing background noise for my jog. Not only are the powerful cooling systems similar to white noise apps, but they help to drown out the sounds of my exhausted panting. I’m not proud of my poor respiratory health or the sound of my feet pounding against the pavement as I huff and puff up every hill. I appreciate the comfort of 100 high quality air conditioning systems keeping my exercise efforts private. In this area, we rely heavily on our central air conditioning systems, but I’ve realized night is primetime for AC usage. At night, the central cooling systems are more likely to be running at a high power because people tend to appreciate cold temperatures for sleeping. When this cooling system correlation finally cemented itself in my brain, I got a lot more comfortable with jogging at night in the cool, muggy summer air. Besides, it feels extra amazing when I get back home to my own abundant air conditioning.
