Since I am living under my parent’s roof I have to follow the rules. They have a lot of rules and I do respect them and listen to them. They’re letting me live at the house as long as I can until I can find a job and get on my feet. However one of the rules is not turning up the thermostat. We live in a cold region and during winters it can get pretty brutal. When they are at work and I am at home, I will sneak to the thermostat and turn it up. They have the thermostat set to 63 before they leave for work and for me that is too cold. I think I have a circulation problem because my fingers and my feet will turn white and go numb when I’m cold. When they are home I will complain that it’s cold and they will tell me to put on extra layers of clothes. However I do not want to have to wear extra clothes or have a blanket around me every time that I’m home. Therefore when my parents are at work I will turn the thermostat up to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. I don’t understand why my parent’s can’t keep it up to 68. I feel bad when I turn it up because I know that I am making the heater work harder because I set the temperature much higher. I think one of these days when both of my parents come home from work, I’m going to try to negotiate the thermostat’s temperature with them.
