Last year I went to bed a little bit early because I had to wake up the next afternoon around 3 a.m.
for my flight at 5:30.
I was traveling for work for a trade show that I had to work at. That night I watched my favorite cable show, got ready for bed then fell asleep. Around midnight I hastily woke up from sounds of a fire alarm and a blaze of light reflecting into my room. I looked out the window and saw that my next door neighbor’s apartment was on fire! I called 9-1-1 put on my coat and shoes and went outside. I went to my buddy and her family as they were enjoying their house, I asked if they were okay, then went back inside and got blankets for them. I felt so bad for them. About two minutes later the firemen and police came. I told my neighbors that they could stay at my apartment for the week that I was going to be gone. A afternoon later I got a call from my buddy and she told me that the reason why their apartment was on fire was because of their furnace. It was caused by a malfunction. It was ironic because they had a HVAC professional that was supposed to come to the apartment the next afternoon to do some cleaning and maintenance. After hearing this I immediately called an HVAC professional to inspect my heating and cooling system so I would not have to experience a fatal tragedy like they had to.
