The flat is entirely quiet now at 3 in the afternoon, as the streets are now void of tourists & most of the stores are closed for a few hours for siesta time. In the Summer at this time it is even more still as the stifling heat cripples most people & keeps them in their homes till late in the evening when it finally starts to give some relief from the heat. The temps can hit well over 100F & when it is humid out it makes it almost impossible to be out in the sun doing anything. Heating up early in the afternoon keeps you in the flat most of the day, & hopefully with some great air conditioning. I have a backup device in fact, because I cannot sleep in a bedroom that has nothing more than a fan to keep you cool. I’ve tried sleeping without air conditioning in this country a few times & I swore I would never go again without some kind of climate control system to keep me cool while I sleep. So now I have a backup device in case the main system went down for some reason, but if the power to the building goes out one night then I am in trouble, especially if it is in the middle of the Summer season. But all you can do is try your best, & having two Heating & A/C systems is trying my best. I know I could go for a midnight swim in the sea if my power went out, although I could have a whole uncommon set of complications if I were to spot a fin.
