The flat is entirely quiet now at 3 in the afternoon, as the streets are now void of tourists and most of the stores are closed for a few hours for siesta time.
In the Summer at this time it is even more still as the stifling heat cripples pretty much everyone and keeps them in their homes till late in the evening when it finally starts to supply some relief from the heat.
The temps can hit well over 100F and when it is humid out it makes it almost impossible to be out in the sunlight doing anything. Heating up early in the morning keeps you in the flat most of the afternoon, and hopefully with some great air conditioning. I have a backup component in fact, because I cannot sleep in a living room that has nothing more than a fan to keep you cool. I’ve tried sleeping without cooling system in this country a few times and I swore I would never go again without some kind of climate control system to keep me cool while I sleep. So now I have a backup component in case the main system went down for some reason, but if the power to the building goes out one night then my associate and I am in trouble, especially if it is in the middle of the Summer season. But all you can do is try your best, and having two Heating and Air Conditioning systems is trying my best. I feel I could go for a midnight swim in the sea if my power went out, even though I could have a whole different set of complications if I were to spot a fin.
