The controversy of starting your car before you leave on a cold day

Living in a colder region is difficult at times.

There are times where I don’t feel like shoveling and snowblowing my driveway.

During the winter we get a lot of snow. The most amount of snow that I have seen at my house is three feet. That was an absolute nightmare! Snow blowing and shoveling my driveway is a hassle and tiring. Living on a mountain and having an incline as a driveway makes it hard. Trying to go up and down my driveway scares me sometimes especially when there’s a lot of ice. I’ll never forget my car being stuck sideways while I was going down it. I grew up being told that it was the best to start your car and let it run for at least ten minutes. This allows the heating to start and defrost your car. I would always do this before I went anywhere plus I wouldn’t want to go in a cold car. Therefore I would turn on my heat full blast so it could defrost the ice and snow off. Plus it was better for my engine. My engine would be working similar to an HVAC system. Just like my HVAC system I get my car maintenanced and inspected to make sure that it is safe and working at its optimum efficiency. Instead of calling an HVAC technician, I like to go to my local car dealer where I bought my car to get it serviced. Unfortunately some of the engine parts for my car is more expensive than the parts for an HVAC system.
